- The Epsilon is a Minecraft Server. Minecraft Servers are written in Java (programming language) and are very inefficient with computer resources. For this reason it becomes impractical to run a server on anything but its own computer (server). This computer must be kept running, fed electricity, and connected to the internet, and maintained which leads to server running costs that need to be offset to keep the Epsilon alive.
- The Epsilon is run by one very busy Owner, with the help of his family, as a labor of love and a fun computer project. Maintaining a server is almost always a black hole of time, as the Minecraft Server and tons of related components are made by many different people and the whole thing just isn't terribly stable. Many times running the server takes up way more time than it is worth and fixing problems means no time to do what the players demand like adding new features. Donating helps the project be worth it's time investment.
- Like many, servers, we've decided we'll provide perks and prerogatives to Donors, as detailed elsewhere, because it's fair.
